Ogden
Technologies, Inc. has a long history of innovative inventions.
The company’s founder, Herb Ogden, developed some of the
first static-free clothing used by NASA. He later invented a
new product for the flooring industry. With the events of 9/11
and combining his knowledge of textiles and concrete, Herb Ogden
along with the help of other company specialists, developed
SafeTcrete, a shatterproof concrete with excellent properties
for use in blast mitigation. Because it is light-weight and
durable, other applications include protective building panels,
crash barriers, bridges, "safe rooms" in diplomatic
embassies.
The
company has worked closely with Pennoni Associates and Penn
State University testing the product. Impact and blast test
results show SafeTcrete has increased ductility over plain concrete,
increased tensile strength under both static and impact loads
and complete control of spalling under blast testing. Due to
the excellent test results, this proprietary product, SafeTcrete,
shows potential for replacing all or a portion of traditional
reinforced concrete in certain applications.
